Incense Safety Guide

Incense produces heat, ash, and smoke. Read the product packaging and follow this general guidance every time you burn incense.

01

Before Lighting

Choose a stable, non-flammable, heat-resistant surface in a well-ventilated room. Use a holder designed for the incense format and confirm that it will keep the incense secure and collect all falling ash. Keep clear of curtains, paper, shelves, drafts, open windows, and smoke detectors.

02

While Burning

Never leave burning or smouldering incense unattended. Keep it out of reach of children and pets. Do not move the holder while incense is burning, and do not touch the glowing tip, hot ash, charcoal, burner, or surrounding surface.

03

After Use

Extinguish the ember completely in sand or water where appropriate for the product format. Confirm that there is no heat or smoke before disposal. Allow ash, charcoal, burners, and holders to cool fully before handling or cleaning.

04

Personal Use Boundaries

Incense is for ambient home use only. Do not ingest it, apply it to skin, place it in the mouth, or use it for personal care. Reduce or stop use if smoke causes discomfort, and increase ventilation. Keep unused products dry and away from heat and flame.

05

Loose Incense & Powder

Use loose incense only with equipment intended for that format. Begin with a small amount. If using charcoal, handle it with suitable tongs and place it in a ventilated, heat-resistant burner filled with an appropriate insulating material.
